How roles translate across games

Roles describe what a player does on the server. IGLs call the round's strategy. Duelists take the first fight on a site execute. Entries trade themselves for map control. Supports hold utility and trade kills. AWPers take long-range duels with the sniper rifle. Rifle players flex across the buy phase and pick up the slack in mid-round.

The same role can look different across games. A duelist in a hero shooter is closer to an entry fragger; a duelist in a strategy title is closer to a side-laner. The role taxonomy below groups players by what they actually do, not by the in-game label.

Signature picks are the agents, heroes or champions a player is best known for. Career timelines list the player's roster history with verified start and end dates. We do not invent figures where the league or the org has not published them.

Player questions

Common questions about player coverage

Plain-language answers to the questions the editorial desk hears most often about player profiles.

1

Why are some handles anonymized?

Editorial copy uses anonymized handles where the player has not consented to public attribution. The league's official roster registry carries the verified handles.

2

How do you define a signature pick?

A signature pick is the agent, hero or champion a player is best known for. We list up to two picks per profile. Picks are drawn from the player's official league match history.

3

Do you cover academy rosters?

Yes. Academy rosters sit on a separate panel under each team's main directory entry. The career timeline covers both the active and academy rosters.

4

Where can I read about a specific player?

Every profile links to the player's career timeline and the team's recent match history. The news desk covers player-specific stories under the match recap and patch impact verticals.

Verification note

Sourced from verified handles and league registries

Every profile links back to a verified source: the league roster registry, the org's official announcement, or a verified broadcast partner. We do not fabricate player data or invent career milestones.

Deep context

Roles, signature picks and the career timeline

Roles describe what a player does on the server. IGLs call the round's strategy. Duelists take the first fight on a site execute. Entries trade themselves for map control. Supports hold utility and trade kills. AWPers take long-range duels with the sniper rifle. Rifle players flex across the buy phase. The same role can look different across games; the role taxonomy groups players by what they actually do, not by the in-game label.

Signature picks are the agents, heroes or champions a player is best known for. We list up to two picks per profile. Picks are drawn from the player's official league match history, not from the player's social feed. Where the player's signature pick has shifted across the current cycle, the profile lists the two picks the player has used most often in the league's published match history.

Career timelines list the player's roster history with verified start and end dates. The timeline covers the active roster and the academy roster where the player has served on both. Roster moves are listed on the timeline with the org's official announcement as the source. We do not run rumors; where the org has not yet published an announcement, the timeline marks the move as pending and does not invent a date.

Anonymized handles are used where the player has not consented to public attribution. The league's official roster registry carries the verified handles. Editorial copy uses the anonymized handle until the player consents to public attribution or until the league publishes the player's real handle in a public registry. The verification note on each profile lists the source page the data was drawn from.

For viewers who want to read the player profiles in detail, the team directory pairs with the player profiles to surface the current roster for each team. The patch hub pairs with the player profiles to surface the signature picks per game. The roster moves archive on the news desk covers every roster move in the current cycle.

Editor's note

A note on profile literacy

The profile desk is updated after every cycle closes. Where the league has published a player handle, the profile carries it; where the league has not yet published a handle, the profile uses an anonymized handle. We do not infer player handles from a single broadcast; the handle must reflect the league's published player registry across the cycle. The editorial desk reads the league's published registry and the org's official announcement together to write the profile. The profile is editorial copy, not a citation. Where a handle is pending publication by the league, the entry says so and does not invent one.
